Introduction
Jam Audio has been making wireless audio tech since 2012 and we here at Trusted Reviews have tested plenty of it.
From the portable Zip Arctic to the Rhythm and Symphony wireless speakers, and the Ultra earbuds, none of the brand'southward products we've reviewed have scored below 3.5 stars. In fact, all but the latter have gained a 4 and in a higher place, which is why I was excited to take a closer look at the Jam True Wireless ANC.
The True Wireless ANC are currently the priciest ready in Jam'south earbud lineup, sitting above the Blackness TWS Exec and the TWS Game On, besides as the Live Loud and Live Free earbuds.
Blueprint
- The earbuds have a simple, stem-shaped pattern
- Information technology can be hard to get the correct fit
- In that location's no IP rating
The Jam True Wireless ANC have a rather uncomplicated advent. The earbuds are matte black and mesomorphic, with an oval-shaped top and an Apple AirPod-like stalk. Visually, they remind me of the EarFun Air and the Urbanista London.
The earbuds come with a pick of four silicone ear tips – the pair on the earbuds, plus three extras in the box in sizes small, medium and big – so yous can opt for the pair that delivers the best seal.
Information technology's ever of import to get a tight seal between your ears and a pair of earbuds, and the Jam Truthful Wireless ANC are no exception. Here, the sound quality relies heavily on getting the best seal possible, which can exist a challenge equally a result of these earbuds' bulky build.
The images of models wearing the earbuds on the box propose the pair are supposed to be worn with the stems pointing toward the floor, only in this position the earbuds felt loose and shifted out of place with whatever small movement.
In my experience, twisting them inwards significantly improved the sound, making them feel more stable in the ear – merely I'k not entirely certain this is how Jam intended the earbuds to be worn.
The fit isn't uncomfortable either style, but the earbuds practise shift around also much for my liking, affecting the sound.
The True Wireless ANC come with a matching palm-sized charging case with support for USB-C, but no wireless charging. The earbuds also lack an IP rating, and so I wouldn't recommend taking them to the puddle or using them in the rain.
Features
- Noise counterfoil is weak
- The six to seven hours of bombardment life seems accurate
- There's no back up for wireless charging or fast charging
The True Wireless ANC aren't a feature-packed pair of earbuds merely, every bit the proper noun suggests, they practise accept reward of Active Dissonance Cancellation (ANC), which isn't always expected at this price.
You can access ANC past tapping the right earbud 3 times. I didn't find a huge audible difference betwixt having ANC on and ANC off. In addition, in that location's no vocalism to tell you lot if the setting is switched on, making information technology even tougher to tell the deviation. Co-ordinate to the manual, one beep means racket cancelling is on, while two beeps means it'south off.
The audio is slightly improved with ANC on, but the earbuds won't do much to cancel noise in decorated public spaces or on noisy transport.
Jam proudly announces that the Truthful Wireless ANC have advantage of a seven-60 minutes battery life on the box. Wait at the smaller print and you'll see the earbuds are estimated to final seven hours without ANC, six hours with ANC, and that there are 24 to 28 hours of charge in full in the case.
I tested the earbuds playing music at a medium volume until they died and found they lasted simply over seven hours with ANC on.
In that location's no support for Qi wireless charging or fast charging here, so y'all'll demand ii hours to achieve a total charge.
Sound quality
- The earbuds pack 10mm dynamic drivers
- The sound quality depends largely on how they fit in your ear
- Audio is crisp and dynamic
Jam says the 10mm dynamic drivers in the True Wireless ANC offer "a cracking combination of sound quality and affordability" and, for their price, the audio quality is very impressive.
Still, as mentioned above, how good the earbuds sound depends heavily on the seal achieved. Every bit such, the quality tin can waver if the earbuds shift out of place – as the True Wireless ANC so easily do.
That said, when the earbuds are in the correct place they sound bully.
David Bowie's Heroes offers a expert residue of highs, mids and lows, with piddling baloney unless y'all push the volume to its limit. Yet, the soundstage could be more than spacious; the instruments audio more than cramped as the rail builds.
Moving onto a classical piece, Debussy'south Clair De Lune demonstrates well-baked highs and plenty of dynamism every bit the song becomes louder. The soundstage is less of an issue hither and, overall, it'south a clear and detailed functioning.
Bass functioning feels a bit lacking at times. Dua Lipa'south Don't Outset At present is full of energy, with the bass managing to keep upward – but I wish information technology were a little more hard-hit for a trip the light fantastic rail. Let the earbuds slip out of place and you'll lose the bass entirely, just this feels like a design mistake more than an issue with the audio.

Last thoughts
The Jam Sound True Wireless ANC offer a crisp, dynamic and generally well-balanced performance – if yous're able to become the perfect seal.
However, it'southward hard to look past the weak ANC and precarious fit. The earbuds look and sound prissy, but the design seems to compromise the audio when the earbuds shift out of place.
